Douglas Wilson “Wil” Miller – Principal
Wil is a graduate of Duke University Law School Class of 1988.
Wil spent the first ten years of his career as a prosecutor in New York City and Seattle trying rape, arson, and murder cases. At the ripe age of 60 with 34 years of experience, Wil has tried over 200 cases and handled hundreds more.
In 2010, Wil began practicing Family Law in Washington State. His office is located in Lower Queen Anne, Seattle, close to the Uptown Theater and Climate Pledge Arena.
Wil’s legal practice focuses on Collaborative Family Law and Family Law Litigation. Please take the time to learn the difference between these two very different processes for resolving family law cases.
Wil has won numerous awards for his work as a family law litigator and his work as a Collaborative Family Law attorney. He has a perfect 10 out of 10 score on Avvo.com and is well known in the Washington family law community as a smart and aggressive advocate for his clients.
Wil’s involvement with the family law legal community in King County includes serving as Chair of the King County Bar Association’s Collaborative Law Section, the Chair of the Downtown Seattle Collaborative Law Practice Group, and the Chair of the King County Collaborative Law Membership Committee. He also recently ended his three-year tenure as Chair of the Washington State Bar Association’s Continuing Legal Education Committee.
Wil also volunteers as a peer advisor with the Washington State Bar Association’s Lawyers Assistance Program whose goal is to help lawyers struggling with mental health and substance abuse issues. Wil’s tale of addiction, recovery, and reinvention was the cover story for the Washington State Bar Journal (April 2014) and 425 Magazine (January 2018).
In his free time, Wil teaches soon-to-be King County Fire Inspectors how to testify effectively at trial.
